So I have an old FED 3 (B or just 2nd edition) rangefinder cam with Industar-61 lens (52mm). I was thinking about getting an old Canon EOS film camera, since I have an APS-C Canon DSLR and a few EF (not EF-S) lenses. What should I get? Should I get it at all? I was thinking about EOS 5 (with fancy AF point selection with your eye).

I'm a big fan of the Elan 7NE. I used to have one (the little chunk of plastic that held the back closed broke, sadly) and it was my favorite film EOS to shoot with.

I've also got the EOS 5 and it was fine, but not as good. I miss my 7.

kinda similar to op, im currently Nikon digital, and was gonna go with f100 but im exploring canon options because maybe better compatibility with lenses.

I have the EOS 5, it's a great camera but don't really use it anymore due to shooting exclusively 6x6. Personally I'd recommend one of the EOS 30 / Elan 7 models (which had about 100 different names but were all virtually identical) because they're a bit smaller and have better build quality.

It's more expensive than EOS 5. The problem is that my camera budget is shared with new computer budget, and computer comes in first. I won't buy it right now, but when I buy PC parts, I'll look if I have any money left over (the shipping is from 15€ to 20€, which is usually the same as the camera itself).

just got back home from shooting with my EOS 100 with a Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC, fucking great setup, can't wait to dev and scan tomorrow

In all seriousness if you want to shoot 135 on a Canon EOS system without breaking the bank the only correct answer is the EOS 5, I had an Elan 7e and loved it.

i recently started developing my own stuff
it's 10000d times easier than it seems

c41 is boring though, developing b/w is less boring, there are more options, pushing is easier etc

just get a tank and chemicals that's all you need, no more bullshit

DESU it doesn't seem hard at all.
I'd need to do c41 since there is no bw film here (not going to order it online for now), and why should I develop color film as bw anyways?

i meant that developing black and white film in black and white chems is less boring than c41, there are more options whereas c41 is following a manual and doing the same thing all the time basically

also I think that it's easier to screw up c41 than bw

developing c41 film in bw chems is vsco level dumb
