What's the difference between these Japan exclusive Fujifilm films?

They have the Fujifilm Fujicolor NewPro400h, Superia Xtra 400 Premium, Venus 800, Natura 1600 and even the Fujifilm Fujicolor Industrial 100.

Are these better versions? Why are they so cheap in Japan?

Where to cop them here?

It is their Portra 400 equivalent.

No they don’t. They have the Superia 400 Premium. X-tra isn’t in the name. Supposed to be better colors for a japanese skin tones. It is still in Production unlike X-tra.

Rebranded Superia 800 and 1600

>Fujicolor Industrial 100

Not sure of the 100, but the 400 Industrial is just X-tra.

Provia 400 looks worse than Kodak’s professional color negative film. I think it’s produced as a result of qc issues with regular Provia and they don’t want to go through the pain of global distribution.

There’s really nothing special about any of Fujifilm films besides velvia 100, which is sharper than the 50 and can xpro well, and Natura 1600, which was the last 1600 film in production. The brand relies heavily on shilling from their digital division “Fujifilm makes film so we can do photography best hurrr”.

I wish we had mods that banned for threads like this. It’s available in japan only because there isn’t much of it made. Fujifilm isn’t what it used to be and they never bothered to fix the tucked up green and magenta tints in their films. They are killing off their film business in stages and discontinuing more than half their film stock by 2019.

Ilford and Kodak are both producing film stock indefinitely and even expanding their offerings. Support a business that isn’t trying to kill off your fucking hobby.

Fuji Pro 400 (aka Fuji Pn400n) was the precursor to 400h. Never heard of this NEW version.

New was what Pro 400H was called when they updated pn400n.

They eventually dropped the new.

What's the difference between the NewPro400h and the ordinary Pro400h?
I checked Yodobashi website and they are different. I believe the NewPro400h is prices lower though.

What's the difference as well with the Superia Premium 400 and the Superia Xtra 400?

They also have the Fujifilm Neopan Presto 400.

Just the name. Pretty sure the New one isn’t even sold anymore.

Premium is just colors better tuned for Japanese skin tones. Tends to look a little more red.

No, Premium and Natura are the only Japan exclusives. There's also 160ns which is no longer available in N. America as well as some LF sizes of certain emulsions.

Japan is good for picking up slightly cheaper fujifilm, but you aren't going to find stuff you couldn't get from b&h. If you live in Japan you can find long discontinued stuff occasionally on the local auction sites (Trebi, Fortia, Neopan 400 and 1600, sakuracolor stuff, etc etc)

Natura is getting killed off in Japan soon.

And until recently was available abroad as Superia 1600.

Provia 100F and Acros are the only reasons i still buy Fuji.
Ektachrome will solve my slide film craving when it comes out in 120, Delta 100 is a nice alternative to Acros, I just prefer Acros' contrast and reciprocity

Even though the sinking ship is obvious, I'm going to be tossing at least another $1k at Fuji in the next few month to stock up on my favorite emulsions

What was the exposure like? 20-30s?
You could have done that with any other film and longer trails might have made the sky more interesting.

Didn't expect it to be that long. Thought the star trails would be longer at more than 30s. In that case, another film might not have been a good choice. Like the second better.
