I'm researching SONY cameras and came across this guy's video on them. He claims that people who buy SONY cameras are basically tools who overpay for a camera that will be obsoleted in 8 months after you buy it. He has many more reasons...

OK, so he has some strange views on who knows what. But can you refute any of his SONY arguments? Sony does obsolete their cameras every 8 months. They do have the worst lens ecosystem. They do use a 3rd party to do their customer service repairs and they do outsource their lenses.

If you're getting cold feet look at the other high end APS-C cameras out there, the D500 and the 7D, and the lenses currently available. Don't think about what will be available in 5 months, otherwise you'll always be waiting for a new camera. Make the best choice for today, and when the camera starts to limit you, then wait until the brand new camera comes out.

a6300 should have been a6500. a6500 comes with image stabilization and a touch screen. for that price, a6300 should have had those features. Sony clearly left those out because they want to stratify their market and extract as many shekels out of you as possible.
Oh, and they also made your 8 month old a6300 lose 60% of the value on the used camera market.
My Canons keep their value well for at least 2 years (and more).
And he's also right about A9 losing a massive amount of value now that A7R3 is out.

Whilst not true, why are you angry at Sony for innovating and bringing out new products? Because they are the only company that can do everything in house, they can afford to update products as new technology becomes available. You don't have to own every iteration either.

Their oem lenses are consistently ranked the best in their class, native e-mount lenses have a massively diverse portfolio and are supported by more companies than any other camera mount. And the cinema world has adopted e-mount as their new standard due to Sony opening up the licence for the mount for anyone to use.

i was considering an a9 but i saw they didnt include slog nor will they ever do

so i think i will go with 1dx mk2 for an all purpose camera

its going to be used in a professional setting and it will be used for video mostly

This guy is NOT a professional photographer; he's a gear head who makes money with stupid youtube videos. Real professionals like Gary Fong, Jason Lanier, Tony Northrup among others make a great case for Sony. I got a used A7 for $625. Love it. Best bang for the FF buck.

I didn't do my research and now I kinda regret getting the a6500. The Fuji XT2 seems better suited for pure photography (more controls, cheaper quality primes). Pretty happy with the Zeiss 1.8 24mm but it cost a fortune. I don't even have an interest in shooting video.
Maybe I'll just keep it in case I need a backup and get the fuji

All but one of the primes is ridiculously soft until stepped down to f/4

The jpegs have fuji worm and color bleeding issues.

And the .raws aren't supported properly by the most industry standard photo editing programs.

You did good getting the a6500.

Suuuuure. You have tested multiple copies of every fuji lens? Must've been expensive.

In reality most fuji lenses are very good, the new f2 primes are breaking records. Only the two pancakes are what I'd call medicore, but not any worse than say, sony 28/2. Not a single one is "ridiculously soft".

"Worms" are a combined result of excessive noise reduction and poor attempts at sharpening, ie your own lack of skill.

Color bleeding is an imaginary broblem that no one has ever reported in real world.

Even lr is capable of decent results, but if you would stop sucking adobes dick for a second, you'd find that there's far better and faster options available. Eg rawtherapee can open rafs without baked in software tricks like lens correction and noise reduction, and it can produce fantastic results.

Sony a6x00 sensor however suffers of massive moire and aliasing problems, even worse than 24mpx a7 series sensor.

Maybe it's just you that's fucking bad (and bad at fucking).

As you can see, this shot is reliant on the blocky shapes of different colors, if the aqua spilled over the white door or the contrast between the red and blue on the floor is lost, then yeh, the image wouldn't be half as strong.

Having colors in the right place shouldn't be a feature, it shouldn't even be a consideration.

As I've clearly demonstrated, fuji fails in real world conditions with normal, common subjects.
And no, this isn't a simulated result, nor is pic attached, it should also be noted that fuji applies very heavy handed chroma noise reduction to it's raw files, which is why you see no false colour on those test shots. This nr cannot be turned off ("shoot raw like a normal person", great way to express your ignorance buddy). Sony raw files are much more "pure", but chroma noise reduction is one click away in lightroom; the industry standard program that STILL can't correctly demosaic raf files because fuji are that unimportant.
