It has a real sensor instead of the shitty x-trans, and used is more realistically priced for what you are getting.

The AF is faster on the T, but it is still pretty damn slow and unusable indoors.

Been a Canon user for a long time until I bought an x-t10 on impulse. For myself personally, the x-t10 made shooting fun again. I agree with what one anon said about it being a dream in shooting manual.

But while I love the look of the camera, it gets uncomfortable and tiring to hold, especially with a heavier lens attached.

The X100S was the first X-Trans x100, which meant it was the first one where "NO AA FILTER" was still a new marketing term for the line.

When the X100T came out and had the same sensor, there was no need to restate the spec. It's outlined in the design brief of the sensor technology itself.

Maybe you should stop talking about cameras you don't and never have owned. Do you even own a camera? I bet you use your smartphone.

Not at all. Unless you shoot mainly professional indoor sports, it's fine. Fuji af depends heavily on the lens, the original 35/1.4 is a little slow, it does a hunting motion every time. Haven't missed a shot because of that tho. Newer lenses like the f/2 primes are really fast.

Of course I own a camera have you even read the whole thread? I'm just not a gearfag looking into every single little spec of a camera and instead actually go out and shoot. Like previously said I'm upgrading from a 700D I bought 2 years ago I rarely use, I mainly shoot film mostly on rangefinders hence why I'm in the market for a x100t.

Repeating pattern on the color filter array is larger than single rgb color unit, thus reducing the chance of repeating patterns getting overlaid. It's a bit technical and my english isn't strong enough to explain it well. I studied signal processing in uni, xtranny makes sense to me.

Capture One.
You can also get better results preparing DNG filer for LR from raw with Irrident X-transformer. LR really sucks with X-trans demosaic.

resolution is set by your lens, not by your sensor.
larger sensors are more forgiving on lenses.
hence why crop shots always look soft and lack that 3d pop that ff has.

Fuji's are great.. Can replace my Sony's in some situations but not all..

I shoot with a sony A7Rii as my main camera and have a shit load of sony glass. But I also shoot with a XT-2

I honestly gotta say the XT-2 with the 16-55 & 50-140 holds it's own against my A7Rii with the sony/zeiss 24-70 2.8.. obviously doesn't out resolve it but I find those two lenses with the Fuji system particularly contrasty and they render in a very unique way. I would sell the sony/zeiss lens before considering ever selling those two fuji lenses.

Iv'e owned several Fuji primes and I STILL own many Sony primes. I find the fuji glass to be hit and miss with rendering. the early shit is good but the newer F2 line is shit even though it's WR.. On the other hand I've owned 3 copies of the Sony 35mm distagon and only one of them was a keeper. the image quality varied greatly from each copy. Thats something I have noticed with several other Sony lenses as well (50 1.4, 70-200 F4) Sony definitely has a quality control issue but if you get a good copy of the Distagon 35 and a A7Rii you will never put it down.

Sony is a image making beast with some of the best glass. But the catch is finding a good copy of the lens you want.. I've had issues with my sony body's in wet weather multiple times where the fuji's just keep clicking. I truly feel Fuji is overall better quality but sony in theory is a overall better system and investment. that's why I juggle both systems. Fuji has better color almost leica like if shooting CC straight out of camera.. but thats a personal preference.

Either save up for the 18-55 kit or get the body and some nice vintage glass to hold you off until you can afford some XF glass.

23mm and 35mm have a 43mm filter thread, so if I switched to Fuji, I'd have to buy polarizers and NDs in double and also carry two sets of filters. Even Pentax was smart enough to make all of their Limited primes with the same filter thread.

I'm making the switch to Fuji but my budget is pretty tight so I'm only looking at second hand stuff. I've got around 800 aus dollars to spend and I have narrowed it down to 3 cameras. You can do in camera conversions of your raws, though having a nice low contrast fine jpeg to get your histogram readings from and to check critical focus with is something I consider a must have. Ymmv.

Just because you can do something doesn't really imply that it's the right tool for the job.. It's not poor design on Fuji's part. those tiny ass lenses the F2 line were designed for the purpose of being used with the X-PRO 2 (a street camera) the filter size needed to be that small to keep the size of the lens down. Don't try to debate me on it those lens specifically were made with the XPRO line in mind so you could see out of the optical viewfinder. and nobody buying a X-PRO 2 using it for its intended purpose shooting street cares about filters. put a uv on there to protect the front element and call it a day.

On the computer just go to the bottom of the page download the raw zip and import them to LR. On the right side you’ll see camera calibration when you hit the tab all of the film sims will be listed

The in camera processing handles the files better. you will notice that if you are editing with the purpose of applying the sims the camera will do a better job at the edit because it knows how to meter the scene with the sim in mind. I shoot in RAW plus JPEG about 75% of the time the JPEG looks better then the RAW edit with the film sim.. but all of that being said Fuji just released there own RAW converter that basically does exactly what the camera is doing when you shot in JPEG just gives you more control over the end result

I just pulled the trigger on an X-T1 because keh is having a pre-black-Friday sale and it was a quarter off.

Bought an adapter so I can use Nikon lenses for it. Thinking about picking up a couple more for Minolta manual and canon EF.

ERF with the EVF PIP zoomed in is useless since it adds a huge amount of lag on shutter release.

BBF on AF-C is also not practical since it adds a lot of lag.

Otherwise, it's great. Get some vintage manual lenses to play with.

Update: got the X-T1. Fuck DAMN autofocus lenses for this bitch are expensive. I really want to see what AF is like on this, but the cheapest lens available is north of $300. There’s not even like a shitty $100 kit lens.

So while I wait for KEH to have a sale on Fuji glass, I’m using adapted Nikon lenses. This is a really neat little camera.

I’ve watched fuji reviews and samples and weirdly, the fuji samples are not as sharp as MFT samples. A MFT camera with that panaleica lens will make a very sharp picture that even the bigger sensor can’t top. Seriously check out findingrange, they review cams and lenses and the results show that fuji aren’t that sharp.

theres a reason for that. Most reviewers work with x-trans files the same way they work with bayer ones.

Yeah, I was just hoping that there’d be more of an ecosystem out there, since Sigma and the other third party companies don’t seem to have any problem putting out lenses for 4/3 and E and presumably those are easily retooled for X. I guess /p/ gave me a false impression of the popularity of the mount.

That's mainly be caused fuji makes extremely good lenses for very competitive prices. Fuji is nothing like Sony having to rely on 3rd parties to provide lenses without Vaseline.

Sigma can only make those lenses because the e mount is an open/unlicensed design, allegedly, and presumably it’s the same deal with m4/3. Don’t think it’s a question of popularity, there’s plenty of manual focus x mount lenses from 3rd parties, but it’s only things like the rokinon 12 and mitakon 0.95 that really break through into the collective consciousness.

Anyway, I got adapters for Minolta manual focus and EF in the mail today, so I can use damn near any lens I own on it in some capacity (really looking forward to doing something real perverse like Mamiya 645 => EOS => Fuji), and Black Friday impulse bought the 27mm pancake so I’ll have something that focuses.

Also bought a Nikon-mount Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 for some damn reason. I’m very irresponsible.

I recently bought the Fuji 35mm f/1.4 over the 35mm f/2 because I was seduced by the extra stop, and also because I am a complete bokehwhore.

Now that I've read the reviews, I'm kinda getting buyer's remorse since the 35mm f2 seems to have been the better choice (faster autofocus, extra stop doesn't make a difference). Should I exchange the 35 f1.4 for the f2?

Do you need the faster autofocus, and sharper images? Or do you need that stop of light?

IMO it makes more sense to switch for most people. If you are shooting low light enough that the stop is actually needed over the af and sharpness, you bought into the wrong lens ecosystem.

The t and s are not that different. Besides the viewfinder you are not going to notice much. Tbh save up for a X百F. Because across, a Sim most people would disregard because it's just black and white.
