What are you doing?

Even if these are your very first shots of birds, you should recognize that they are shit images overall, for a variety of reasons.

Sell your cameras... you don't have even the basics of what it takes (such as self-awareness, and judgment).

Sigma and Tamron have new 100-400 lenses, they should be quite decent, and are light and cheap. Old Canon 100-400 costs about the same second hand but is somewhat heavier, has a push-pull zoom. New Tamron 150-600 if you want to spend a bit more, has a Sigma equivalent too but the Tamron is 1kg lighter. The new Canon 100-400 will still set you back about €2k, but there's a cashback action now. Will pick up either the Tamron or Sigma at the end of this month when the former is released.

With your camera, you could also slap on an extender on any of these without losing autofocus, which is neat.

Not him, but a lot of them are out of focus, and others are just distant silhouettes of birds. The whole point of bird photos is to show them as large and detailed as possible because you don't normally get to see them that way.

This is my first camera and I am mainly doing this because I work with retirees who want to learn about nature - so these are for handouts (a folded 8.5x 11) and other education material. In my opinion it is better than grabbing pictures online and having to source them.
To get better focus is to get a better camera?

Also, as far as weather sealing from best to worst goes, I think it's new Canon>Tamron>Sigma>old Canon, but I haven't been able to compare personally obviously. This is purely comparing info sheets and reviews.
