A fully functional Pentax 35mm 105IQ Zoom for $5 at Deseret Industries. 5 minute long exposure when you hold the shutter button down with the plastic part of the strap and a rubber band. I took plenty of razor sharp photos on Studio 35 and CVS 200 with that one.

I later saw another fully functional Pentax along the same line as that for just 65 cents at another thrift store, which has closed down since. Didn't get it because I already had one and because the viewfinder implied the lens is greenish-bluish as hell, even in broad daylight.

Though fwiw, the panorama mask on the MjuII seems a little wonky; You can see it appear in the viewfinder, but it's faded looking. And the mode buttons are somewhat stiff. you really need to press them hard to register.

Bought cameras for good prices from stores and auction sites and then sold them on Facebook buy/sell groups to avoid paying fees. I'd price the cameras competitively and they'd typically be bought within a few days.

I'd typically roughly double my money on each camera. It's a much better strategy than trying to find cameras for pennies at thrift stores, as your leaving your entire business plan up to luck and random chance. For example, I'd buy Stylus Epics for ~$70 and then sell them for $150. Easy money.

Picked this up last week for roughly 30 dollars. Basically in a brand new state.

Came with the original box and manuals, 3 lenses, 2 filters, lens hood, rolleifix (tripod mount i presume) and a leather case that holds 2 filters and a lens hood.

Anyone know an estimate of it's value?

you need to know the lens and condition. Most desirable lenses sell for 1500-2000 in good condition, but it's probably worth at least 400 regardless.

Hasselblad 500cm and 500elm for $600, not amazing but half-price so I'll take it
Leica M3 with a rareish black paint lens for $450, sold it all for 1200 or so and used it to fund an M4 with a ZM Planar and Color Skopar.

And one near-miss that was too crazy not to mention. The guy I bought the M3 got it from a friend, who was selling off his late grandmother's Leica collection (literally boxes full of Leicas). I got the last camera, and the seller threw in an everready case from the collection. Turns out that case was the original case for the first Leica MP (worth 20-40k now, only like 500 exist). People had no idea what any of it was worth. How this random grandmother from the Midwest ended up with one of those I have no idea, but I'm fucking jealous of whoever got to it before I did.

Also, constant dreams that I'm taking pictures of something awesome and my camera is failing.

Also, dreams that I really have to pee and can't find a usable bathroom, but that's not really relevant.

OP here. My second biggest score was an Olympus Stylus epic DLX, 4 Nikon L35AF's, Canon AF35ML, Olympus XA2. Flipped all of them.

Overpriced, worth about 1200 in good condition unless it has one of the modern lenses. If you want one piece it together from somewhere with a warranty (keh and the like), hasselblads are a little finicky and will probably need servicing

It's a pretty good lens. The camera is decent but I might have messed up the rewind lever last time I used it.

I go to the thrift almost every day, never find a mju ii or any other grails i see other people getting :( I have gotten an olympus xa with a broken exposure counter for 20 bucks at my local camera shop before though that's probably my best "score". Got a Leica mini zoom from salvation army last week for 9 bucks, which i guess is better than nothing.

I've never used one of the TLRs but the 35 is 1000% worth it.

The camera is about the same size as a pack of cigarettes so it fits nicely in my pocket, the viewfinder is massive, you have a meter, there's a shoe for a flash, AND you get Zeiss glass. Having to zone focus takes some getting used to, but I usually just use the Sunny 16 rule and set it to infinity anyway. I'd recommend going for the later 35 S though. You get the 2.8 Sonnar rather than the 3.5 Tessar, and that lens handles color film better than the Tessar imho. The original 35 is a fantastic B&W camera, but not so much color.

Thanks for the detailed response, I greatly appreciate it. I shoot black and white only, so that's no problem for me, plus I'd like the original German one just for purist's sake.

I want one so bad, the problem is I already have an SLR I use every day and I have no need for another 35mm camera.

Went thrift shopping again today and scored! Picked up 6 more books for $2 each, two Pentax Spotmatics, one with a Super-Takumar 50mm f/1.4 and the other with a Tokina-Special 28mm f/2.8 for $25 each and a Fujinon 50mm f/1.4 for $10!
All of those lenses go for around $150 each on eBay, was pretty shooked when I saw them for that price. They also had a bunch of zooms and a couple SMC Pentax 50mm f/2s but didn't go for them because the zooms were like $30-$40 each and I have a SMC Pentax-a 50mm f1.7.

it was in poznań, I found an advertisement on olx portal

a guy just wanted the camera to be used by someone, not to collect dust
he also thought that the camera has the sticky grip problem, but there a simple way to get rid of it (salycylic acid - no one on the forumst has found out this simple way)

Hasselblad 500c with a 150mm f/4 - $300

Linhof Technika IV kit - $250

Hasselblad 500 c/m with 80mm 2.8 CF - Traded the Technika kit for it.

Contax T2 - Traded a Nintendo Switch (That I traded a Xbox One and $60 for)

Bunch of Takumars plus a Sigmatel YS 135/1.8 for 75€

Topcon 35-L for 30€.

Minty Leica M3 + Summicron DR 50/2 (with goggles) + Elmar 90/4 + bunch of Leica filters etc. for 600€. (Not the greatest bargain ever but I'm very pleased with it.)

More recently I picked up some guy's little Rollei collection:
Rolleiflex SL35 + CZ Planar 50/1.4 + CZ Planar 85/1.4 + Rollei35 (Made in Germany) + Rolleiflex MX Tessar for 200€.
I was literally the first to see the listing. Pretty lucky.

Still dreaming of coming across a Hasselblad steal, a box of Rolleiflexes or the legendary "thrift shop M3".
