I can't tell if it's there straight out of box but it appeared on the first image I took with a uniform-ish background (the sky).

What a joke. Can't believe I read about this shit for so many hours and got conned into thinking it's the GOAT. The stealthy shooting provided by screen-off and snap focus is kind of neat I guess but I'm not a spy. Certainly not worth a dark circle on every image I decide not to post-process.

Fujifilm X70 it is.

Do you know what we're talking about here?
I tried using an ultrasonic toothbrush but unless I'm missing something there's no easy way to dust off the sensor of this camera.

but if you intend to edit the photos, then what is the big deal with 15 seconds extra, the problem really only shows if the person says shit like "i only edit in camera with jayypegs" and doesnt bother with photoshop

If you bought a brand new camera from a store and it had a big chip in the front element, and the sales rep said it barely affects photos and that you can easily just edit it out, you wouldn't care?

If so I have some basically-new cameras to sell you; I'll buy them off eBay and you can pay full price since it's no big deal at all and you're only editing keepers in 15 seconds.

Despite how minor you think a dust particle is to a chipped lens, reasonable people aren't going to be paying for a cleaning every time there's dust on the sensor. It isn't easily done yourself. It isn't cheap to pay someone to do it. It isn't fast or easy or painless.

Calling it **~~#$cleanable&#*!)** doesn't change the fact that people are mailing off their Ricohs and paying hundreds to have them repaired, literally.

Because it’s with *literally* *every* *shot* you edit.

When I do a photoshoot with a person and they have a zit, I usually have to edit that zit out of about a hundred photos. It’s annoying. By the end of it, I have a weird sort of Stockholm syndrome thing going on where I feel oddly intimate with the zit. I don’t like it. I wouldn’t like to have that with a speck of dust on every single one of my photos.

Plus, there are gonna be a few where it’s a bitch to edit. Like if the spot happens to be right on top of an important detail.

Honestly, the only Fuji worth buying is the x100 series.

Their mirrorless is blown the fuck out by Sony, and their compacts are beat by little yearly everyone else on the market.

A new GR refresh would even make the x100 series obsolete.

The dust issue is real, my GR is plenty dusty but I haven’t bothered to clean it. If you got it new I’d send it back and get it replaced. Having that on a brand new camera is unacceptable in my opinion.

But honestly what other anons are saying is correct too - that’s a tiny thing that can be cleaned up in 5 seconds in the pictures where you can see it. Any camera you get you’ll probably get dust, dead pixels etc. eventually. Fwiw I’ve been fine with my dirty ass GR but had to send my Fuji X-T10 to get fixed (under warranty) due to hot pixels, because they bothered me more. Those you could see clearly in every single picture, where on the GR you have to shoot at f11 or smaller against the sky to really see any of it.

Not if you clean the sensor. It really is not all that hard. Really have people become totally whiny wusses over minor things?
Also you should own a Gel-Stick for just that reason.
And that this in not more prevalent with cameras in the process is proof they are doing a good job. When you manufacture things in high volume there will be occasional misses.

Reminder: the X70 is a fixed lens APS-C compact. Cleaning the sensor isn’t a matter of popping off the lens and hitting it with a blower bulb. It requires you to fully disassemble the thing and get it back together after cleaning without letting any new dust land on the sensor while it’s taken apart.

This is for the GR, but the GRII is essentially identical in construction.

Also re: X70, it's a great camera, but I find it just bigger enough compared to the GR to not really be pocketable.

I don't have an X-T20. The pancake combo wasn't as small as I hoped so I ended up with a two-camera mindset and am now looking for the second, small, pocketable camera (GRII/X70/X100T).
