I’ve actually always been kind of against them and saw them as lazy, however I’m looking to get a kind of vintage film look on a particular shoot I’ve done and aren’t managing well. I know that presets, particularly VSCO ones would make the job a lot easier though.

I have no excuse for my lack of anything to share though, sorry about that.

But am I the only one who thinks presets usually just end up looking like glorified filters and shouldn't be used over actual color grading for each different photo?

I'd argue that they can be done well. You can't just automatically use them, and some look dreadful, but they're a great starting point for a photo that has you stumped.
