>>3219870>Is A6k with adapter could handle my lens as well as the 7D?Oh my Lord no.
I’ve got an A6000 and reasonably nice adapter to use my canon glass on it and autofocus works but it always goes through a process of racking focus back and forth and then slooooooowly reigning it in. It’s honestly faster to just use manual focus. Granted, there might be other adapters out there that work better, but that’s been my experience.
Also, in general, the 7D just handles better. Little things like being able to set your focus point directly with the joystick without having to hit any other controls first, how it comes on and is ready to shoot instantly as soon as you start to press the shutter button, and having the three Canon-style custom settings on the mode dial. It’s a camera that does a great job of anticipating what you want and getting out of your way. With the a6000, it kinda feels designed by committee rather than being designed by a photographer.
On the other hand, the A6000 is great if you want to use old manual focus lenses, and if you want a camera you can fit in a coat pocket, and the EVF is really great. It’s also got some neat features the 7D lacks, like the tilt screen and WiFi so you can squirt photos over to your phone without going through a computer. Oh, and iso 25,600 max vs iso 6400 max.
But the big determinant for me is still just that you have existing Canon glass. You’ll be better off sticking with a body you can mount those on directly.
