>>3220100>Depending on the ISO, it can cause fogging.Literally never. I've been catching lots of connecting flights when travelling to save on tickets. So a solid 4 runs through the scanner minimum per trip, and x-ray exposure is cumulative. I've carried all kinds of film with me, TriX, TriX pushed to 1600, Portra400, Superia 800 and 1600, Provia 400X, and Delta3200. The Delta 3200 has been through 6 exposures (Thessaloniki--->Barcelona--->Rome and back) and not a single sign of damage.
Carry on scanners are an order of magnitude less intense than checked in ones and too weak to do anything.
Also, in Europe nobody will hand-inspect your film. They won't bitch, they'll just called the manager who -with a bored and slow voice- will inform you that the scanners are rated safe for film and it has to go through the scanner.
Only once, before knowing any better, did I manage to get someone to hand inspect it, and they burnt 4-5 frames by pulling the leader. Never again.
Posting Superia 800, but ask any of the others if you want and I'll post a pic.
