>>3220357>no PentaxI opened that link exclusively to see if they also tested Pentax and I'm disappoint. I have all Nikon stuff without any weather protection of any kind (I live in a world of constant fear & panic of voiding the warranty). I hear good things about Pentax, but I just need real good stats to compare for sure.
Seems like the A7R III is a no-go. They probably fucked up with the type of material used for the seals or there's just a gaping hole somewhere in the seals of the one they tested. And, the pooling of water on the top of it is something I had not considered.
It'd also be nice for companies to cover water damage for weather resistant and weather proof products. Of the highly durable electronics from the 1980s I worked with that were fully weather proof, they had a thick coating on all the internal PCBs and electronics. You could fully submerge them without their seals (except the rubber battery coupler) into salt water and they'd still work. Then again that stuff wasn't cameras, just science equipment.
Fuck planned obsolescence.
