This one took more than one mantis to get it to work. Originally it was going to mounted through the wings only but they just couldn't support the weight. I tried mounting the insect with glue to to the middle pole first but the wings still just kind of disintegrated.

finished model, going to the printers today

If it's cheap enough I'm going to try their new SLA printer and get it printed clear. Then I'll fill it with iridescent black resin. I need to find a new base mold for it though. The one I used on the previous head only prints broke.

All of these except for the first 3 photos are for that huge show in the summer. The museum and curator are in talks to get the show to travel so with any luck anons outside of Omaha might get to see it.
