Just look for the following on a compact:
- Prime lens with f3.5 or better apperture. Avoid zooms.
- Flash that can be manually enabled/disabled
- A DX reader with 3 or 4 prongs to ensure it can operate with a wide range of ISO (2 prongs means it can only use 100, 200 and 400 film)
TA-DA! Now you have something as good as a mju for a fraction of the price.
If you want an SLR, the Minolta X-300 with the 50mm 1.7 kit lens can be found for those $50. Cheap, handy, dependable and easily replaceable.
