every forum I stumble upon regards Nikon older "D" lenses as inferior to anything else Nikon did in last few years

what does /p/ think on this topic? personally I tested some cheap G lenses as an alternative and found out that AF on those newer lenses is pure shit. also the results in terms of sharpness and overall image quality are not really that better compared to D lenses

is it better to buy more expensive and newer lenses with ultrasonic AF? or should I stick with older AF-D lenses?
