>>3229706The flashing icon with the lightning-arrow and +- signs is the Flash Compensation symbol. Its flashing means it can not be changed (which is a crock). Mine does that too. It just means you have set the flash to manual mode instead of TTL mode.
When you are in TTL mode, you can change it by holding down both the flash release button (makes the flash popup) and the +/- button near the shutter then rotate the dial on the back of the camera. You'll see the Flash Compensation symbol pop up and cycle through numbers. I don't know why we can't change the manual mode setting in the same manner, but when in TTL mode and using this to change it, it is like we are in manual mode. Still that is useless when you have an all manual "dumb" lens.
