x100t AF half press not working

m on a trip right now and AF doesnt focus anymore while half pressing on my x100t. the camera will only focus after a full press and thats right before the shutter releases. Any ideas?

ive tried the usual reset, making sure the tab is on ->S, etc.

Busted, contact Fuji.

Repairing my x100s cost almost $700 a few years ago though, so prepare your wallet.

This happened to me too on my x100s, wanted $700 AUD to fix, noped out and sold it for parts on eBay

What? Tried a Fuji (and many more) in store and it stood out from the rest. I tilted the camera 45 degrees from close to far and it autofocused before I even saw the screen due to motion blur.

AF failed on mine, but it was out of warranty.

Probably wont be $700 for OP, but he should send it to Fuji to get fixed.

OP here, turns out it was a battery issue. I switched batteries and the AF half press is back

Glad you could fix it, anon. Turns out a lot of various issues are battery related, for me it was aperture problem and the mirror didn't flip entirely, fixed by replacing the battery.

Just noticed this thread, I was gonna suggest you try swapping out the battery I had a similar problem with a XT-2 a few months back.. should be fine with the original battery also if you put it back in.. it's a known lock up issue that is resolved by popping the battery in and out.

Proof.

It turned out that the part wasn't sold individually, and as such the entire motherboard had to be replaced. Unfortunatley a new battery didnt work for me.

Why would anyone one this? Add in the shitty x-trans and sticky aperture issues and it seems to be more trouble than it is worth.

Go into the menu and try setting it from TTL to manual flash and set the flash strength yourself. It probably thinks you have a manual lens now. How long ago did that happen? It may have water inside and just needs to dry. Hopefully no corrosion or residue is left, which may also cause this problem.

I also suggest getting/making a clear camera rain bag and using that any time you are even remotely near water. Just wad it up in your pocket when not in use. The D3400 is basically a camera made like a screen door. Had I known that, I may have saved up more and bought something weatherized. Even my old Coolpix L100 was more weather proof than my D3400. Nikon doesn't cover water damage so I live in constant fear of water. That sucks.

With manual mode there is a flashing icon between the aperture and iso icons. (In live view) when the flash is up. It`s a square, where half of it is a lightning bolt and the other hald with a plus and minus signs)

The flashing icon with the lightning-arrow and +- signs is the Flash Compensation symbol. Its flashing means it can not be changed (which is a crock). Mine does that too. It just means you have set the flash to manual mode instead of TTL mode.

When you are in TTL mode, you can change it by holding down both the flash release button (makes the flash popup) and the +/- button near the shutter then rotate the dial on the back of the camera. You'll see the Flash Compensation symbol pop up and cycle through numbers. I don't know why we can't change the manual mode setting in the same manner, but when in TTL mode and using this to change it, it is like we are in manual mode. Still that is useless when you have an all manual "dumb" lens.
