Look at any Chosis thread (although, to be fair, he’s legitimately awful). Doesn’t matter how good a person’s photos are, if they use a tripcode when posting them, they’ll get hate for it.
I use the trip when trying to explain things to people because it makes it far easier to follow the discussion when it’s not just “anon anon anon anon anon anon anon anon anon”. And, in fact, I’ve gotten a lot of nice compliments here for being helpful and less of a dick than most of the people on 4chan, and the only people who bitch about me are anons who are demonstrably wrong about things (eg, the guy who absolutely flipped his shit the other day because he didn’t know what “tool” meant).
