Can I see some samples from the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II please? Are you happy with this lens?

Any reason why I should chose this over the EF 100-400 mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II lens? I'm not into Weddings.

Also you can safely use a 2x TC II or III with the 70-200 if you're looking into wildlife so no real need for the giant dustpump 100-400.

That's not true. The 100-400L was a known Dust sucker due to the push-pull operation of the lens and lack of seals. The newer 100-400L II has an internal seal and a different method of operation. Canon (and users) claim it's pretty immune to dust now.

I thought the goal of this page was to be used to share images. Which is what the original post called for. .

OP is asking in a nice way to have sample pictures of something in particular, on a board DEDICATED TO SHARING PICTURES.

it's not showing at 1000px, but there is noticable softness when using the 2xTC

Go to pixelpeeper and search the lens. Go to google and find no one has ever not liked the lens.
It's the best in that zoom range from any brand, ever.
Why should you choose it? For 1 stop more light at 70mm and for 1.5 stops more at 200mm. Better sharpness, faster focus, enter contrast.

Buy it and then get a teleconverter if you need more reach. And you'll have a 70-200 2.8 that can match the 400mm when needed.
Having said this, you seem very new to photography so it's likely that you don't need either of these. Buy the 70-300 IS iii and save 2k

Perfectly usable with the later versions of TC 2x and 1.4x. It was still the lens that I used least. At least for me, the telephoto focal range is special purpose.

I have both. If you are primarily shooting birds/animals or *outdoor* sports, get the 100-400.

Anything else (including *indoor* sports) get the 70-200.
