Is a JPEG quality above 90 worth it? I do this mostly as a hobby so I don't do prints or anything.

because lightroom's jepg quality slider isn't 100 different levels of quality, it's really only like four

i think anything from 76 and above are the same quality

If You happen to use imagemagick there is no luminance compression in images saved equal or better than quality 90. Imagemagick defaults at 92 if there is no previous save in jpeg format and no quality is specified.

It is said that quality 80 is nearly unnoticiable compression when compared to jpeg original quality.

Here's jpg 60,70,80,90 and png in mixed order. View it 1:1 from your normal viewing distance, can you tell which is which. (Then pixel peep and check if you got it.) Gimp.

Differences are fairly invisible when you view jpeg at default brightness, but clearly visible when you bump it. It's mainly important for later editing and printing.

examples are: 90%-100%-70%
