There could have been some really nice subtle colour interactions of the green weed on the rock. If the colour wasn't shouting at everyone, then the varying planes of texture of the weed dotted about (which are the most interesting part of the scene) would be the centre part of the photograph, and could work. But even so, this photographer hasn't bothered arranging them to create a strong visual rhythm for that to work well. All he seemed to care about was fitting EVERYTHING in, including the source of the sunset, which isn't necessary for using the light well in that time of day.
