What is a good app for editing videos? Ideally with the ability to add text to a video, and to do thinks like speed up the video while I talk over the action?

I'm making some wood working videos (hand tools).

I run linux, and I've tried OpenShot but the version that can run is the old version from years ago.

ALso, I checked the catalog for a stupid questions thread and for this topic with negative results.
