Digital:
Faster
Cheaper
More consistent quality
Higher dynamic range
Much better low light
Essentially unlimited shots
More control in post
No stinky chemicals
Better for the environment

Film:
More attractive tonality than most digital sensors
Medium Format that doesn't cost as much as a house
Cheaper gear in general
Portra's DR is probably higher than any digital sensor (but DR is pretty overrated imo)
Full frame compact cameras
Not needing a battery to shoot
Film Grain

Actually I'm 100% sure. There's obvious cheap digicam noise reduction going on in the first one and the out of focus trees in the second one look exactly how it should look on film in my experience.
Unless you did a bunch of extra processing on the "film" one to trick people and act like a smartass, the first one is definitely digital and the second one film.

First of all, the exposures and contrasts are different on these so it's not even a fair comparison.

The right is digital beacuse the highlights are clipping.

You're absolutely right, I didnt actually open the thumbnails to check which is which. Gj pixelpeeping sleuth. My takeaway from the comparison shootout though was buying a Nex-3 after realising a roll of Ilford delta 3200 cost 1/8th of its price for 37 grainy bw iso1000 photos.

It's apples and oranges and this once-a-month thread is pointless.

Why can't we all admit that film and digital and coexist peacefully, as their uses overlap in a venn diagram with qualities they both share and qualities they don't.
Neither are going away, as long as both mediums have fans and users, so what do these threads actually accomplish?

People need to justify their choice because even though it's totally feasible to make great work with one or the other, financial constraints are typically what limit people to just one or the other. You could argue the same thing with Canon vs Nikon. If it was possible I'd have a bottomless camera bag, with just the right lens and body for every single photo I want to take. I can't do that, so I remain happy with what I have. Some people, though, don't stop there - they have to justify what they use because they feel threatened OR they worry they may have made the "wrong" choice.

Film is great and massively more enjoyable for me to use than digital (not that I don't own a digital camera). If you like digital and irrationally hate film, that's cool, but calm your shit down, guys. You don't need the entire world to agree with you.
