>>3255868>Looking for a good mirrorless camera under $400>>Picture quality, size, and weight are all considered factors as it will be coming with me on the john muir trail.>>3255971>Not trying to only have iphone pictures of my hiking trips, my budget is my budget.>>Anyone have exsperiance with sony rx100?My main question to you are:
1. What kinds of photos do you want to take - primarily snapshots of people and landscapes, or people, landscapes and wildlife too?
2. Is weather sealing important or will you be able to protect the camera adequately during rain and bad weather?
3. How much emphasis do you put on image quality? Would you be making enlargements? Would you bring a tripod? Describe your photographic goals for the camera.
The Sony RX100 would be a good photo for snapshots that look better than what you get with an iPhone. However, it's possible to make your $400 go farther if you want even better image quality. The 13.2 x 8.8 mm sensor is better than most point-and-shoot cameras, but will be limiting for certain situations. Also, since you started the thread asking about "mirrorless" cameras, but then suggested a point-and-shoot, you're going to now get a big confusion of replies. It would help us if we knew more about your wants and needs.
