Because more people know the Pentax brand than the Ricoh brand. They were, in fact, mostly buying Pentax for the Pentax name recognition.

Are you sure? Watch 30 minutes of some winter sports and you'll see Ricoh somewhere in the background more times than you've seen Pentax in the wild since last April.

They're trying to build it up as it's the conglomerate brand, but it's still Pentax that has resonance to the average end photo consumer so they have to cater to that for now.

Ask 30 people on the street if they've ever heard of Pentax or Ricoh and see what comes up.

Pentax is already considered exotic, Ricoh is beyond that, if someone has heard of them it's on the lines of "didn't they make a decent compact camera once?" and that's it.

Because Ricoh is not Sony. I’d rather have Sony kept the Minolta brand.
It shows how much they appreciate the company they bought and their customers. Old Minolta customers went to Canon and Nikon when it became Sony. Pentax customers stay with Pentax and now Ricoh.

I don't think Sony had the option to keep the Minolta name; they bought the camera division, not the company. I doubt Konica Minolta would sell their name to Sony.
