Canon has a few good very cheap (£100-150) lenses to start a collection with. 40mm f/2.8, the new 50mm f/1.8, the 85mm f/1.8 and if you want to use third party or lenses from older systems like Contax/Yashica or Minolta you need full frame. All FF lenses feel weak on APS-C because you're wasting most of the light capture and aberrations/softness are sampled finely than designed to be. The best lenses become unremarkable, and good lenses become average.
Full frame is worth it, don't accumulate APS-C lenses which you won't be able to use later.
