I've been wanting a DSLR for some time, but never had the cash on me to drop on a potential hobby. Well I mentioned this to an old friend, and he gave me a Pentax K100D for free. Said it didnt work but after some googling I found out the firmware just wasnt reading SDHC and it needed an update.

Is it good for a beginner, has anyone used it? My dad was a photographer back in the day and said the brand was good, but he didn't know anything about the specific model.
