In terms of your motivation, that's cool. Not much to critique though. The exposure on these is pretty solid. If you really want them to see through your eyes, though, focus more on the candid photographs, and try to keep your style a little lose. If you get too structured in your composition, the photograph starts to become less about what's in it, and more about the abstract geometry. Also, try and avoid photos like the one of Honest Eds. It's not clear what you're focusing on, and it's pretty inert. If you want these to be personal, then get personal with the image. Find angles that match your experience, not your eyeline. It's okay if things get a little blurry, because it will remind your kids that you were the one behind the camera. If you have no interest beyond leaving something behind, work to make sure it's you you're leaving behind and not some a bunch of nothing.
