Hi guys, I see a lot of gear threads so I'm going to repost a bunch of my landscapes plus a few new works. They are mostly prints with some exceptions.
Sorry for the square frame (white borders), I know you dislike it but these are for social media and I don't feel like reprocessing them just for this.

Yes I forgot to add the gear, I knew I would get asked haha. These are all taken with a Pentax aps-c and a Vivitar 35/1.4. Almost all stitched/composite. Fun but tiresome as hell.

I thought these were the standouts in terms of tonal control in pp and overall iq refinement, loads of great compositions though, really appreciate seeing a set of yours like this.

i don't know if that's just because these are formatted that way for reposting or if these look that was in their original edits but it's nasty.

not my taste, they look over processed to me. Something about them has a very cold an uninviting feel, it seems overly sharp, though sharpness isn't a bad thing, but something about the quality of these photos are almost uncanny.

I'd say it's a digital think but I have seen these colours achieved in camera with Lee and Sing Ray grad filters.

There is just something about these photos I don't like and that is a personal subjective judgement. They are however, the best photos I have seen on /p/ in a very long time

Glad you asked, there was actually for a moment a rainbow right there in the air somewhere between my point of view and the mountain but by the time my setup was ready - I'm way too slow - it vanished in front of me. So, as I saw the scene and it looked nice, I was able to reproduce it, in a way, with a sort of prism on the spot. Kind of cliché but I thought it looked nice.

The sharpening issue is probably due to export settings for printing. For the type of paper I print on I use to apply a layer of sharpness to retain more information. These are just full-size prints resized to 1024px on the longest side with another layer of sharpening (since PS's resize algorithms alone tend to lose some information when reducing resolution). Though, for some images like >>3265210 I was told the river looks too sharp. I could have used a slower shutter speed.

I quite agree with you, at least for >>3265215. I honestly still have a lot to learn - I think in such cases the problem is mostly due to my setup and the problems related to it.
Don't get me wrong, I don't blame my gear. I always shot for years with my crippled (Aperture-mechanism failure, hence it's a full manual camera all the time) Pentax aps-c and a single very sharp 35mm lens only, without filters, and I'm proud of the results I managed to get from this system. It is fun for me, nonetheless you can image the lenghts I often had to go to compose a shot with a such a limited system. Stitching, merging, bracketing and so on. Sometimes the time or the weather really put a strain on me. I tried my best to recover some exposures but not always it worked. Now I have a second body (Fuji XT2) with a 10-24 that should "ease the pain" in a few occasions.
I hope to test it on the field soon.

If you happen to visit the Italian Alps, I can't recommend it enough.

Instagram is a clickbaiting shitfest which leads participants to add gimmicky stuff. Some of this photos exaggerate that excessively. They would not need it though.
