Not long, but it took many years before I realized that those photos I initially thought were good were actually very flawed. I think most people starting out have a similar experience.

this is all this thread needs to know
just to add some more to it, the same happens with music, you create something you like, publish it etc and then 2 years later all you can see (hear in this case) is flaws everywhere, shit you would not do anymore ever again, etc.
In my experience this goes on forever as this is the cycle of learning itself

I don't think most people realize this, most people keep taking shit photos thinking they're good sometimes forever

I think that the more photos you take, the higher you set your own level of a "good" photo. If that level becomes static, you've lost as a photographer. So if you're continously taking "good" pictures, you're doing something wrong.
