Just shoot with it and let the camera do its thing. Negative film has so much latitude that even if the camera reaches its maximum shutter speed the photos will turn out alright.

With a P&S camera you'd have to hack the DX code before you load the film if you wanted to shoot at 200. Just google "hacking DX code" and you'll find some articles

do you have to manually develop this though? I swear I've gotten back negatives that are unusable when scanning due to 1 or 2 stops of overexposure

I live in an area that it is a rare occasion that we ever get sun (something along the lines of 40 days a year on average) so 90% of the film I buy is 400 speed. Yesterday was one of the brightest days we had all week and I shot 200 and everything I feel was a little underexposed. Pic related

If your camera has exposure compensation you can simply set it to +1.0

I'm pretty sure that it's changing the exposure of the image not like modifying the value in the lightmeter. Seems backwards to me also, I always get confused. (Might be confused now...)

Back when film is all there was, l bought it by the case, so using 400 in the daytime was normal. I also used to buy Tri-X by the case as well for my 645 gasp!
