G2 is great and all, but you're better off getting a G1. There pretty similar, and the AF is only marginally faster on the G2. I've known a couple people who have had both, and they say it's not as noticeable as people make it out to be. You're better off spending the money on another lens.
As the other anon said, manual focus isn't had at all on the G1. I'd only be using it for zone focusing for street shooting though.
