Portable Medium Format

What is the Contax T2 of medium format cameras?

By that I mean just what are some medium format cameras that have some of the following traits:
Small & Light (Pocketable, ideally)
Great optics (preferably 6x6 with an 80mm lens)

Ideally, It would be a camera that has glass as sharp as a Hasselblad in the form factor of a folder. I've seen the Zeiss Super Ikontas with the Tessar 80mm 2.8, does anyone have experience with them? Are they as close as I'll get?

Pretty fine, it’s an 85mm. The rangefinder is very dated though, no framelines.

Do you just use the whole finder then or is it more of a guess?

It's an interesting option, I like that it has a real rangefinder and that it looks smaller than the ikonta.

Try the Voigtlander Perkeo.

It has a coated 80mm 3.5 that is apparently a Tessar derivative and it fits in a jacket pocket. The only downside is that it's zone focus only.

Two things. The rangefinder isn’t coupled to the lens, so you have to make focus and THEN adjust the lens. The rangefinder is completely a separate mechanism.

Second, yeah it’s kind of a guess. But it’s honestly not going to be far off since the window imo honestly looks pretty close to a correct view at infinity to me.

Fuji G670 or Makina 67

Both are folding medium format rangefinders with kickass lenses. Only problem is theyre $1000+

If I had more money than sense Id totally buy a
Makina 67 or the rarer Makina W67 with a 45mm lens

The fuji GF670 is selling for like $3000+ these days. They're amazing but you'll pay for it.

The Makina has a reputation of being fragile. Also they're way, way bigger than they look in photos

Fuji GA645 as others have said. Nearly pocketable, sharp lens, 16 frames per roll.

Can act as a point and shoot, or have full manual control.

A folding 6x9 camera is what I use (specifically Kodak Autographic no.2)
It's lighter than a 35mm SLR, pocketable (only a bit bigger than a large cellphone) and I love the lens, pic related

MF folding cameras can be surprisingly compact. Here's my Voigtländer Bessa 66 between a Nikon FM2 and a Canon P.

Very nice. Canon P is a beautiful camera. Can’t wait til mine comes back from servicing. I guess I’ve gotten decent at guessing outdoor exposure and for indoor I use a VC Meter II. Doesn’t match my canon P since I got a black one, but no biggie.

It's incredibly light as I said. The downsides are that the viewfinder is fingernail sized and the arm that holds it can get bent and it only has two set focus distances (though tonnes of folders have variable focus and probably better viewfinders too) though you can roughly judge in between those set positions. They are some of the best value for money cameras out there though, so if you get one and don't like it you won't be spending more than a few rolls of film worth.
