>>3286824>worst camera for use with vintage lenses>hasn't changed their lens mount since America had 48 stars on the flagfalse.
Nikon is THE system to adapt vintage glass, as long as it's F mount lenses, which are a dime a dozen. The caveat is you can't mount anything pre-AI, or at least Nikkor pre-AI, some of the 3rd party pre-AI lenses will mount though. After 1977 you're good to go.
Now, I shot several systems over the years and adapted lenses to all of them and said fuck it, if I'm going to adapt retro glass to something it will be full frame, meter whatever I slap on it and cost a billion dollars, so I got a Df. You don't need one of those if you are just fucking around with old school lenses though. Most of my work I post here is shot on AF lenses but a few are done with a pre-AI 20mm and a 3rd-party 28 2.8 macro.
The 5300 is a good solid body to shoot with and it has manual focus confirmation built in with anything mounted up to it, Canon can't do that and I think the new Sony bodies use focus peaking. Every single Nikon AF body made has that focus confirmation feature and on my D7000 and Df they were spot on every time even with my 180 2.8 ED.
tl:dr;
>>3286824 is a massive faggot, you can adapt Nikkor glass but it has to be AI or AI-s, which has the meter tab on the base of the aperture ring and sometimes also has the rabbit ears for use with pre-AI stuff like the F, F2 or Nikkormat. You will have to use manual exposure but if you're using manual focus you probably aren't shooting anything moving at any rate of speed to warrant automatic exposure. And retro Nikon glass is super fucking cheap. I paid 100 for my 180 ED, 20 for the 28 macro and 235 for the 20mm
