it comes with time. looking at other amateur photogs, looking at master works, checking out what scenefags and trends are up to. a few anons are reacting negatively to your work because fatigue sets in when you've been exposed to certain shots over and over again. In an effort to avoid that, a lot of new photographers will try and use unusual angles or double exposures to spice things up but these efforts often end up being more cliche than an honest picture of an interesting scene, well composed and thoughtfully lit. personally, i consume a lot of amateur art and photography and I don't really get fatigue from seeing people explore the medium. it makes the successes i come across that more fruitful.

colors are very cozy and symmetry is nice but focus being on the pole killed it. the pole is not an interesting subject and the shallow dof makes it the only element you can pay attention to. if you retook this with the same film/cam but focused on an emotional impoverished woman in the distance or something it'd be a solid keeper

keep shooting, post selectively, and let people roast your work to shit. people here will critique more aggressively and honestly than anywhere else, very very valuable shitheads desu

I am the same way, that's why I go full anti-social when I take pictures. Decided to just say fuck it, the image is worth more than anything else. Haven't been beaten up yet. You'll be surprised what you can get away with.

Keep shooting though OP, your subject matter isn't strong here, but it'll come with time. Flat ass Calgary gets the best goddamn light in the summer, so pound the pavement around golden hour and you'll be laughing.
