Sorry to break it to you kiddo but those Amazon listings that are too good to be true are usually scams. If the seller "just launched" yet has dozens of listings all at crazy low prices, it's a 100% scam. You probably can't find it now because Amazon nuked their asses off the site.

Besides, the GR II often sells for £250-280 on ebay. I posted an auction for a mint condition GR II in /gear/ and it ended at £280. Deals are out there, just be patient.

Of course the RX100 V beats the Ricoh, it's also twice as expensive due to that. The specs aren't even in the same league but of course Ricoh GR has a legacy that's beyond the spec sheet. Saying [citation needed] is full on retarded though.

When I bought my M8 awhile back they were selling for $1900 used pretty much everywhere, but there were a few sellers on amazon selling NIB M8 bodies for $400. When you buy from a seller like that you can be damn sure they aren't authorized retailers, so they have no obligation to even send you a functioning product.

The RX100 III/IV/V are very good cameras, if you really used one for a year you should know that. In their size range they are better than most other cameras in most areas (obviously not all areas, there are no perfect cameras) and the image quality isn't that far behind a modern APS-C DSLR/MILC (and better than some older ones).

It's really compact, very easy to use, surprisingly sharp. Fits in your pocket, purse, whatever. Just carry the thing around and shoot. It's really all you need in a compact.

It's a lot of fun handing it off to friends and family and letting them shoot it around. My sister seems to really like it so if the GRIII gets announced I'll probably give her my GR and buy the GRIII new.

Not the guy you're talking to but I'll add some numbers. The GR II has about a 1 stop advantage over the RX100 V in terms of noise performance, dynamic range, tonal range, and colour sensitivity. However, the RX100's lens is a stop faster at the same focal length as well as having IS (so another 3-4 stops, maybe more, when applicable) so the difference is either negated or the RX100 comes out on top unless the GRII is at ISO 100.

I don't have any numbers on lens sharpness but using DPreviews studio comparison I would say the RX100 is sharper as well as having a higher resolution.

Jesus fuck, I have mk3 and I never use it because of the garbage ui laaaaaggggg and the iq never impressed me at all. Noise all over the place even at base iso, colors like some 2005 samsung phone camera.

GR II has apsc sensor, one of the best of it's time and still very capable. Tiny 1" sensor will never ever come even close to that in any way.

People are offloading right now since everything but moms toasters are offering better picture. And you need to find proper suckers to offload gr2's so you see these kind of threads. Cam has notoriously bad sealing and everyone's got dust and specs on their sensors that can only be cleaned by taking the whole fucking thing apart. It really isn't a sound choice for anyone interested in pointandshoot.
