I'm tired of models backing out. The stress and the equipment costs you can handle. but when you depend on someone to do your work and things get out of hand, you'll soon get tired...

An occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person's life and with opportunities for progress.

So yes. As long as you don't have high expectations for earning money. Photography is a rough occupation but can be a relaxing career.

I work at camera store and regularly talk to photographers who are easily making well into six figures. They all shoot weddings, events, and fashion though.

Don't worry. These guys look hard to compete with up until the client gets their photos back and realizes they hired a shitty amateur photog with no experience. I've seen weddings ruined by random beginners on Facebook charging $100 for a wedding package.

Yeah. The average photog makes $35k a year.
It all depends what type of photography you want to do and how much you grind. For example: I made $40k last year, I decided to step my game up this year, as of today I have made $40k+.

A full time wedding photographer (talent not required) spends summer months with at least 1 wedding a week which should be 20k+ turnover per year with this minimum calculation.

Real estate, company photos (small businesses), approach couples and do couples portraits on the fly at parks or riverfronts.

Just dont get into my area of expertise. I do professional goose portraits and they never pay man! Ive tried revamping my invoices and even tried up front payments, but those damn Canadian geese just dont have cash to foot the bill. My business is going under and I've been at it for 3+ years now. Don't shoot goose portraits!
