>>3316483Okay, let me explain it to you how I see it, not like you'll care since you've already shown off how closed minded you are to everything that doesn't fit your worldview.
When you say "point and shoot" in the UK you tend to be referring to shitty plastic pieces of shit like pic related. Limited manual control, flimsy build quality and low price. Then you move up to calling something a "compact camera". Nobody in the UK calls an X100 series Fuji or Leica a "point and shoot" because it clearly isn't one. Nobody has ever said to me "hey, nice point and shoot" while I use an X100. It's clearly a compact camera with full manual controls.
Lumping every smaller camera under "POINT AND SHOOT" as a single umbrella term is complete dogshit use of language. To me, it comes from the fact YOU think all these cameras are irrelevant next to a mirrorless or a DSLR so you dismiss them all as point and shoots. That's ridiculous, something like an X100 or a GR has the same sized sensor as in a DSLR or mirrorless. They don't fall under the same flimsy shit umbrella as a "point and shoot". Point and shoot implies you have no control over manual settings, you point and you shoot. Compact camera is a better term for enthusiast compact cameras as it shows they're full cameras but smaller.
Now feel free to insult me for having a more sensible use of language, I need a good laugh.
