5 years ago, I bet on Sony and sold off all my 5D2 Canon rig to get an A7r, a few lenses and mix them with some M mount primes (18, 35, 50mm).
It went surprisingly well. Enjoyed using manual primes. Was never really tempted to buy any new shit (having kids may be part of that), and really enjoyed the system. I just sold the whole lot. I don't use the 70-200mm anymore, and the 24-70mm wasn't enough to make me stay in a system.
The economics were nice. Spent $5,600 on gear - used it for 5 years without incident - and sold it for around $3,400. I'd say less than $40/month is okay.
I may go back to Canon for a little system or just do another Sony rig with a 24-105 and my M stuff. Anything good out there in the last 5 years to know about?
