damn, good derail.
>>3314545Yes, OP, there are some gap between old DSLR to new mirrorless/DSLR. Main improvements are the ISO capability, DR got a huge improvement, pixel density vs pixel size. As for the sensor being CCD, CMOS, Xtrans or anything is also something you need to put on your mind, but need to know exactly where they can be applied and how.
I'm now shooting with a D500, it's sensor pixel density, DR, ISO is something I am hugely impressed, and if I compare to my old D300 it would be just a coward move tbqh. But it isn't saying a D200 or a 20D wouldn't get the job done. As the pic you posted, it have a good quality overall, it isn't a bad a photo, but if you had to push your camera to something more drastic, you would see the difference. you could compare this shooting the same scenario with an old and a new camera, and then pushing the settings.
about your Full Frame thought, you're correct tho. Nowadays the difference between Fool Frame and Crop are almost all about perspective. Off course I wouldn't mind shooting a D5 or a D850, but for most of the time, you wouldn't see any difference shooting a new crop vs shooting a new ff.
