Just get the first one. They're pretty cheap now (too fiddy?) without the box etc. Buy one, if you don't like it you can sell it the next day and not lose a penny.
>>3320280>if you're looking for a camera with good autofocus then this is the wrong camera. it is most definitely unusable>unusableI've got the x100 original with the worst autofocus (the firmware update helps). I always have mine set to manual focus. I use back button focus and recompose or zone focus. You can press the rear command "dial"/toggle switch to focus peaking in the evf and back to ovf in an instant if you want (I never really bother with this).
The main advantage of BBF is the "macro" mode. In Japan it seems that macro is 3 feet away with a wide angle lens and means menu diving to set the focus to macro. With BBF it just figures the subject is close and focuses, it may take a fraction of a second longer.
I lent my brother the x100 for a trip to France. He knows nothing about photography. Set everything to auto except focus and explained BBF. He took hundreds of photos in all kinds of light, only a handfull were blured due to camera shake in very low light at really low shutter speeds (auto iso only goes to 3200).
After editing his photos for him I set the camera the same mostly. JPG+raw (just in case) and use the exposure compensation dial to taste.
tl;dr x100 is a fun camera with exellent image quality but with a few quirks.
