Few months back i rented a Nikon 50mm f/1.4 (a $400 lens) to take photos of my friends. Didn't know about ND fliters back than so most shots were 1/2500 - 1/4000 but when i zoomed into the photos, the sharpness was awful and Chromatic Abbreviation was too much (most shots f/1.4 - f/1.8). At that time i thought its the lens, now i have bought a AF-S 35mm f/1.8g and its more or less the same story. The sharpness is nothing compared to my kit lens 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 on D5300. I don't know why prime lenses are praised by everyone.
