For most people it's just a genre, for want of a better word, that other people try to sell you shit based upon. ie You need a small light camera like a Snotty RX100 mk xviiir for travel. You also need a travel tripod, an inconspicuous bag with a lead lining because everyone is trying to steal your gear the moment you get off the plane. You need an iPad with Lightroom so you can process your raws and post to IG on the go, 200 sd cards and a back up hard drive.
For others travel photography is the result of travel. It might be for fond personal memories or a considered and well planned documentary of a journey or place, or an aspect thereof.
