They REDUCED the flange distance so there is no room for any mirror. Film is not a sensor, how the fuck are you going to see through the lens? The only alternative would be a rangefinder camera, but who the fuck would want to put massive autofocus lenses on a rangefinder. Unlike Fuji, the film rangefinder would have limited framelines, no autofocus, and no option for hybrid evf.

I would buy a new Nikon film camera if it was under 1000 and F-Mount. I really enjoy using my F2 and like the fact I can use these same lens on my D700.

They've waited long enough to enter the FF mirrorless market that I'm sure it'll be at least on par with Sony. Nikon aren't some newcomer here, they have way more R&D and decades of experience than Sony does on how to make a great camera.

Nikon's live view on their dslr's is joke tier, everything is slow, af is terrible.

Sony have said they're keeping stacked and bsi sensors to themselves

Nikon have no patent for ibis

The D850 has a Sony BSI sensor though.

Nikon's "parent company" the Mitsubishi keiretsu also happens to be Sony's second-largest shareholder, after Sony itself.

Why? If they're finally ditching their mount they shouldn't make an inferior product just to try to appeal to familiarity and keep the dimensions of DSLR.

While >>3333373 this is true I really don't feel compelled to upgrade to Nikon. After all I'm going to have to switch mounts anyway and use an adapter before getting native lenses. Sony already has a lens lineup so that's an area where they're ahead, and I'm pretty sure they always keep their competition at least a generation behind their own sensors.
I have a d800 which is still a good camera so I'll wait until at least the second generation of Nikon and Canon mirrorless and then I'll see if it's worth buying into either of the new mounts or I'd rather wait for gen 3, or just bite the bullet and get Sony.

I think he means very close to the screen with a negligible hump.

The GFX-50S doesn't have a hump if you don't attach the viewfinder (the hotshoe is level with the command dials) but then you're left with the rear screen only.
(the GFX's viewfinder is quite versatile though, you can angle it in many ways)
