Typically anything indoors you want a wider lens, but for performers you want a something closer to 50mm, 35mm being a happy medium
Obviously a fast lens will help your wide shots but you're not going to be able to do much with a lens- the camera is what matters here. You're on an ASP-C so you're already fucked.
Just seems like a strange question- for the cost of a couple of good wide fast lenses you could just buy a FF body and get what you need 10x better
