What do I need to get started in the Photography World?

Equipments
Types of Lens to use

the very basic to take a decent pic.

to get started you need a good idea of what good photography is.

Look up bruce gilden or chosis if you want to do street photography or ansel adams and Steve McCurry if you are trying to do more classic stuff.

so yea that's the first advice I'd give: you will actually need to put at least see effort into it, and the sticky is a good place to start

people are offended i think before they are jealous of his skill and bravely of taking intense street photos while most of /p/ can barely leave the house without having a panic attack. Chosis has no fear putting his lens within inches of police and criminals to get good shots risking his life in the process.

If you're willing to drop a few hundred bucks off the bat, get a cheap digital camera with interchangeable lenses and go crazy. I personally like the Olympus OM-D E-M10 ii.

If dropping 400-600 minimum on a camera is too expensive to try out the hobby, look into a film camera - you can get a solid one for like 50 bucks. I personally like the Minolta SRT 102 or the Minolta X-700 for something newer.

Either way, you'll want to eventually pick up a good cheap 50mm or 35mm lens.
