i used to message local makeup artists for opportunities to showcase their skills, something like wanting "an 80s aesthetic portariture with a summer theme of low contrasting yellows and oranges", get them to my shoot location, do one person, then have a few beers with them for the sole purpose of cuddling them

I "fix" more in post than I care to admit. I try to nail exposure but I like relying on deep shadow recovery and find myself tweaking color balance a lot even if I thought I was satisfied OOC.

I’ve become a total unironic /fgt/, last time I used my digital was probably 4 months ago. I go through 30 meters of hp5 a month and my hands have a semi-constant smell of fixer and I don’t even care.

I used to cringe when I saw hipsters shoot ootd pics on their compacts to get their Noritsu scans from the lab to post in Instagram with huge white borders, now I’m just jappy they’re keeping film alive too.

I don't understand white balance at all.
I'll explain: why should I change camera settings depending on lighting to get a more "realistic" picture if the lighting is different? Compensating for a cloudy day or tungsten lighting results in an image that doesn't reflect what my eyes saw.

Resizing is right there on the export page on Lightroom and Photoshop as you render a photo. There's no way to miss it.

I dont think that's the point either. What I tend to aim for is replicating what I saw and that usually involves white balance adjustments because RAW profiles are flat and cameras are notorious for tinting images anyway.

I went from like 300 followers to 2000 before the thing got shut down. That was before Instagram changed its algorithm tho so I easily got 300-400 likes one each picture. These days I cap at 100-150 or so

The point of white balance is to correct the image so it reflects what your eyes saw. Your eyes do correct white balance, if you see a painting in candle light it won't be all orange and yellow, you will see more blue and green than a photo without correction would show. However you're right that you do still perceive that the light of a candle is warm hence why you might not want to correct your Christmas evening shoot with grandma to some shopping mall palewave just so the tree looks green.
