That's irrelevant.

The CIPA test takes into account idling time.
You know those moments when nothing happens and you just wait, and wait, and wait for the right picture?
The camera still needs to be on during those moments, and that wastes battery.

Some events take all day. You will want your equipment to be versatile.

The A7iii is a workhorse that lasts all day thanks to its power efficiency.
The Z6 mark 2 should aim to become that.

It's a very relevant standard that takes into account use case like careful composition, and taking your time to wait for the correct moment.

That's the important bit.

CIPA is not a guideline for how many photos you can expect to get in real world usage, it is a standardised test designed for fairly comparing different cameras.

Yeah you'll most likely get more than 330 shots per charge, just like how you'll get more than 340 from an A7 or more than 710 from an A7 III.

It's going to be a long, rough two years for them before reinforcements arrive.

I will honestly be impressed if they somehow manage to increase battery life in mark2, without resorting to bigger battery.

Majority of photography work with done with flash though.
So 50% is rather fair.

Beside you don't have any reason to suspect the Z7 use more battery to communicate to the flash than any any other camera.

It's intended for use as a comparison between different cameras, and in comparison the Z6/7 performs poorly. We're all aware that most people will get more shots than that from a battery, but whatever they do get will still be like half what an A7 III gets.

People commonly get over 1000 shots on the original tiny Sony batteries too. The new ones have been said to break 2250 in some cases.

A better measure of battery life for mirrorless would be screen/sensor on time.
