Who are some of the best military photographers ever? Can anybody offer any advice on military photography in general? It’s my occupational field, but honestly it’s a different world from what I used to shoot

I'm a photographer for the military but I rarely shoot overseas. It's all PT sessions and government officials meeting/shaking hands with heads of mil branches.

I am currently a conscript in the army doing photography as one of my tasks here. I guess by simply putting yourself out there you will be able to do it. Me myself was tasked for it because we have an on base newspaper that needed pictures. Taking good pictures for my media accounts is just an added bonus.

How would a civilian get on an aircraft carrier and shoot fighter jets leaving on decks, assuming time and money were no option. Or maybe even on a military base, the carrier is preferred because I could get close enough to the planes to facilitate pic related.

I have some really fucking cool ideas similar to pic related but my only credentials are a passport and TWIC card. Is this one of those things where you pretty much have to be enlisted to pull it off?

It's the same shit as just about every other genre of photography. Frame the picture in the way that brings out the elements of the scene you find most interesting, AKA composition.

Just call a ship and ask if you can go on a tiger cruise or dependents cruise. Or find someone stationed on one and ask them. They should have a phone number posted online.

yes? you realize that aircraft carriers are massive, right? the motion you experience is relatively minute. furthermore, i've shot on a smaller boat before. as long as your subject is also on the ship, you're fine. just secure your tripod properly.
