>>3349430>the sensor is outdatedit's a 30mp sensor so it's probably a derivative, or the same, as the 5d4 sensor. Which means it isn't outdated at all.
Nobody really cares about that extra stop of shadow pulling, with the 5d4 you can already shoot at ISO 400 and pull the shadows to 6400 with negligible noise. That's all people needed or asked for. If you need more you're really getting into a shot that should be a photomerge of multiple shots.
Right now the important differences between Canon, Sony and Nikon are really really really small.
- Canon has the best video AF, not only is it accurate and fast, it's also natural when it transitions between in focus and out of focus
- Nikon and Sony have better context aware AF, able to keep up with a subjects eye, which Canon doesn't. (it can keep up with a face, not with the eye.)
- Nikon has base ISO 64 cameras which neither Sony or Canon have, and because of the lower base ISO and near invariability it has incredible dynamic range performance.
- Canon cameras never had reliability problems, while Sony and ESPECIALLY Nikon had a horrible track record. Every major camera release has been plagued by cameras failing way too early.
- Canon has glass that both Nikon and Sony can only dream about. If the 28-70 f/2 is true, it's just another sign of how advanced Canon's lens division is. I can't remember the last time Nikon or Sony made a truly new and interesting lens, meanwhile Canon drops bombs like the 11-24 f/4.
- Canon is afraid of flippy screens and people are rightly pissed at them.
- Canon ruined the video market they had a stranglehold of, with downright shitty video cameras. The 5d3 does blurry 1080p, the 5d4 does motion jpg 4k...
And that's what comes to my mind. If you think about it there's enough reasons to switch systems for everyone, and at the same time not enough reasons to really justify it.
