>>3353033Sony has un-prioritized the australian market. Asia, america etc., is where the money is.
This happens to them with everything; not just consumer electronics.
Luxury goods for example (like watches). New rolex models that you can get in any shop in the US/euro/arabia etc., walk-in are months and months long waiting listed in Oz. Australia's just a null zone that companies don't really give a shit about and they can charge whatever they want for the measly crumbs they ship over there.
lol it's horrible
like when their parliament got all angry at apple for charging more for the same shit they sell everywhere on earth - including digital files requiring 0 shipping fees (taking into account local taxes already: apple just tacked on more). When questioned about this their response was basically
>lol everyone else rips you morons off so we're going to do the same.I don't miss my time living in australia. Fun to visit, have fun, but to live there long term I think I'd go crazy, and I'm not just talking from a consumerist pov.
Rough end of the stick in almost every category. And now the govt has gotten rid of the $1000 import tax threshold so now aussies are forced to deal with ripoff prices. My friends bitch, quite rightfully, about this endlessly.
I wonder if the steam store charges australian based accounts more for shit too?
