I put my flash on, it focuses the flash correctly and it fires at the correct power straight away, I can change the balance of the flash by changing my ambient exp with one dial and the flash exposure comp with a 2nd dial. I can use it in any light, with any shutter speed and I can recharge them from my PC or a power bank, or use AA batteries.
I can then add up to 15 more flashes, that can all be controlled wirelessly from the first flash, they can be grouped for faster changes too.
Name one thing your vivitar does faster or better.
Also, mine has li-ion batteries for a much faster recharge time, with an external battery pack I can do 5 half power flashes a second, which is insanely good for fashion.
